‘Star Wars: Episode 9’ Starts Filming This April

Date:

Star Wars Episode IX will start production in April 2017, despite not hitting theaters until May 23, 2019.

According to reports, production for Episode IX will take place at Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England, UK.

Director Rian Johnson first announced that production had wrapped on Star Wars: Episode VII, which hits theaters on December 15th, back in July.

Episode VIII will pick up where the Force Awakens left off with Rey (Daisy Ridley) standing before Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) undergoing Jedi training.

There are few details surrounding the plot of Episode IX, but it was revealed that the movie will be filmed in 65mm format, a first for the box off hit trilogy.

According to Cinema Blend, J.J. Abrams filmed The Force Awakens in 35mm film and Rian Johnson followed in his foot steps. But, Collin Trevorrow is breaking from tradition and going with 65mm. Kodak revealed that they have upgraded their processing facility to handle the 65mm film and one of the projects listed in their facility is Star Wars Episode IX.

Stay tuned for casting calls and job opportunities.
