Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (The Revenant) and Prada start the Prada Film School
Prada is known for fashion, high-end models, and bringing the best in fashion year after year. But, the high-end fashion brand is expanding and that’s why the next piece of information is going to be especially surprising.
According to reports, the Italian fashion brand announced their plans to create their own film school as well as their own TV series called “Flesh, Mind and Spirit,” created by Academy Award winning director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu and U.S film critic Elvis Mitchell.
Called “Belligerent Eyes,” the Prada film school will create new ways of teaching and creating film. Classes are expected to start May and September 2016 in the Prada Foundation’s Venetian venue at Ca’ Corner della Regina.
The purpose of the school is “to go beyond traditional educational methods and stimulate reflection on the social and cultural transformations currently impacting audio-visual production.” The idea is “to lay the groundwork for innovative research in the study of cinema and production and distribution,” the statement said. Further details are being kept under wraps.
Prada is working with the Venice film festival and is currently working with Wes Anderson and Roman Polanski. In addition, Prada Foundation plans on screening several feature films to inspire other aspiring filmmakers. In fact, Inarritu’s favorite films are going to be screened.
But, this is not the first time Prada entered the film industry. For over the past 5 years, Prada has been producing new and original content for the Italian fashion brand. You can watch an example of one of their productions below:
