Jordan Peele is Producing The ‘Candyman’ Remake

Date:

It is now confirmed that will be producing a remake of Clive Barker’s notorious 1992 horror classic film, Candyman.

Variety reports Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions will team up with Win Rosenfeld and MGM to produce the upcoming Candyman reboot, with Nia DaCosta as the horror film’s director.

“The original was a landmark film for black representation in the horror genre. Alongside Night of the Living DeadCandyman was a major inspiration for me as a filmmaker — and to have a bold new talent like Nia at the helm of this project is truly exciting. We are honored to bring the next chapter in the Candyman canon to life and eager to provide new audiences with an entry point to Clive Barker’s legend,” Peele said in a statement.

The Candyman remake is expected to start production next spring and scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2020.
