Hercules’ live-action movie is coming soon with Disney.
According to reports, Disney is working on a live-action remake of their hit 1997 animated movie “Hercules” with the team who made the “Avengers” movie, including Joe and Anthony Russo.
Disney hired the talented Dave Callahan (“Godzilla,” “Zombieland: Double Tap,” “Wonder Woman 1984“, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) to write the “Hercules” script. Previously, Callahan worked with Sylvester Stallone for the original “The Expendables” screenplay with plans to create the character to build the Hercules franchise.
Ron Clements and John Musker directed the animated Disney movie. Tate Donovan voiced Hercules. In the film, Hercules is kidnapped as a baby by Hades, and Hades forces him to live among mortals as a demigod. To prove himself worthy to return to Mount Olympus, he must complete a set of challenges. As a result, he learns to defeat evil creatures.
The movie would later make $252 million at the box office. In comparison to “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin” Disney animated movies, it was not a hit. That said, the Russo brothers are known for creating hit movies. The duo is behind “Avengers: Endgame,” which is the highest-grossing film of all time, with $2.79 billion worldwide.
