Fast 8: Why The Rock and Vin Diesel Didn’t Get Along [VIDEO]

Date:

New details reveal why The Rock and Vin Diesel didn’t get along on set of Fast 8.

According to new details from the Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne Johnson’s Instagram post “blindsided” Universal and put them in a pretty perilous situation.

The drama all started on August 8th, when Dwayne Johnson was preparing to shoot one of the final Fast 8 scenes with co-star and alleged “Candy Ass” Vin Diesel. As Dwayne Johnson waited alongside director F. Gary Gray and the production crew in the “90 degree Atlanta sun” for Diesel to exit his trailer and get to work, something apparently made ‘The Rock’ snap.

“Everything was running smoothly,” a source told THR, adding that the 100-day Fast 8 shoot was frequently delayed by Diesel’s trailer dwelling. “This was how Vin has run things for the past several movies.”

Apparently, executive VP Mark Sourian, who was already hanging out on set of Fast 8 when things got messy, was put in charge of keeping the drama to a minimum and making sure the remaining scenes were actually filmed.

According to THR, Diesel and Dwayne Johnson had a heated exchange inside Johnson’s trailer over a Ballers joke. “What happened is over and no one expects there to be any lingering effect,” a studio source told THR. “When it comes time to promote the movie, this will have no bearing.”

However, the drama has not subsided as Dwayne Johnson leaves Vin Diesel out of Fast 8 thank you list. “Finished strong and on to the next,” the actor said in his post, below, where he posed standing next to a private plane. “Thank you to our director [F. Gary Gray] for the vision and execution. Thank you Universal for being tremendous partners as always.”

Finished strong and on to the next. That’s an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind. Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I’ve ever seen.? And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew – the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night – thank you! In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY. And now in two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI. *(for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story). It’s also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we’re together. ??????. Man this is gonna be FUN. #WheelsUp #ThatsAWrap #FromFastAndFurious #StraightIntoJumanji #BigBrownBaldTattooedMan #DarkChocolateComedicRockStar #BrillaintCrazyCurvyCaucasion #TheseHashtagsAreRidiculous #INeedSleepAndCARBS #ButIWillSettleForTequila

While the actor went on to express his gratitude for the cast and crew including Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Scott Eastwood, Vin Diesel’s name was not on the list.

It is going to be a hot summer.

Fast 8 hits theaters April 2017.
