Deadpool 2 is expected to start filming in the next six months.
Now that 20th Century Fox has released Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse in theaters this year, producers are getting ready for the next feature film.
Next up for the X-Men film series is Wolverine 3, which is now filming in New Orleans, Louisiana and Albuquerque, New Mexico. It will allegedly be the last time Hugh Jackman will play the superhero character.
Following Wolverine 3 we have Deadpool 2 and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. Recently, Simon Kinberg spoke to That Hashtag Show at the 2016 Saturn Awards and offered the following rough schedule for the upcoming X-Men franchise installments (spinoffs and/or sequels alike). “The first thing up, we’re shooting the Wolverine movie right now and we start shooting Deadpool 2 at the beginning of next year, then I sit down and start writing the next of the mainline X-Men movies.”
It’s important to point out that Deadpool was a box office hit movie and essentially saved Ryan Reynolds’ acting career. In fact, Deadpool earned $500 million at the global box office in less than two weeks. In addition, 20th Century made a ton of money off the movie considering the movie only cost $58 million to make.
Deadpool previously filmed in Vancouver, Canada and movie sets tend to film their sequels in the same filming location as the first movie. So, expect casting calls and new information released in the next six months or so.
