‘Midnight Rider’ Assistant Director Claims She Was Tricked

Date:

‘Midnight Rider’ assistant director claims she was tricked and would like for her criminal charges dismissed.

‘Midnight Rider’ 1 A.D. wants the criminal charges dropped since she believes she was tricked. According to Hilary Schwartz, authorities broke a promise to grant the filmmaker immunity from prosecution when they charged her with the crimes in a fatal train collision during shooting of ‘Midnight Rider’.

Hillary Schwartz was working as an assistant director on the Midnight Rider movie when a freight train hit crew filmming a railroad bridge outside of Savannah, Georgia. The crash killed Sarah Elizabeth Jones, a 27-year-old camera assistant from Atlanta, and injured six other crew members.

Schwartz is currently one of four other people who were charged with involuntary manslaughter and trespassing. Schwartz’s attorney’s filed court documents Monday asking a judge to dismiss the charges aginst her. They said prosecutors tricked her into talking by assuring Schwartz was only a witness, not a suspect. Less than two months later she was indicted.
