Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian in history, and he is growing collection of medals everyday.
Michael Phelps’ latest win has set him with 23 total medals and 19 golds. Some people don’t even have $19 dollars, let alone Olympic gold medals.
The United States men’s team made the 4×100 free relay look easy, but they were bouncing between second and third place for almost half way through the race, while France and Brazil had the front position. Until, Phelps jumped into the water. Phelps took the lead and never looked back. His teammates, Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Held and Nathan Adrian have joined Phelps in the history books.
This race probably makes Phelps one of the greatest Olympians of all-time. The next closest Olympian, Larisa Latnina, has 18 medals and only 9 golds. Keep in mind that this was the first of six total racing events Phelps will swim in his final Olympics. And it’s entirely possible that Phelps will go on to win over 20 gold medals, which is insane considering he’s th eonly person to even earn 20 medals in total.
Check out how the world reacted to Phelp’s win.
