‘Lone Survivor” Beats Competition in Box Office Charts
‘Lone Survivor’ is the true story of a failed U.S. Navy Seasl mission to kill a Taliban leader in Afghanistan and this weekend the featre film collected nearly 40 million dollars in U.S. ticket sales, beating “Frozen” and winning the weekend box office race.
‘Lone Surivor’ stars Mark Wahlberg as he plays Marcus Luttrell, the only one of four SEALS to return from the mission and who wrote the 2007 book on which the movie is based upon.
Other top movies included “The Wolf of Wall Street” starring Leonardo DiCaprio as it collected $9 million dollars in box office sales. But, the most disappointing release was, “The Legend of Hercules.”
“The Legend of Hercules” featured fashion model and actor Kellan Lutz, as it collected $8.6 million in ticket sales.
Despite collecting nearly 40 million dollars to produce the “Lone Survivor” movie, it took $40 million dollars to make the project, according to Universal.
The movie was heavily marketed and was only expected to draw in $23 million dollars in box office sales making “Lone Survivor” the biggest movie behind “Cloverfield” to be released in January.
