It was confirmed by creator Neil Cross that Luther will not return for a fourth television series, although there were plans to turn it into a feature film. In a recent interview with TVLine at the 2014 66th Primetime Emmy Awards[3] and Zap2It while promoting his movie No Good Deed, Idris Elba promised that “the series isn’t over,” which kept the possibility for future seasons or a feature film of Luther open.

Now according to The Hollywood Reporter, Idris Elba and Neil Cross are creating a US version of ‘Luther’ for Fox networks.

Following this season’s Broadchurch adaptation, Gracepoint, Fox is targeting Luther for its next British remake.

Luther is the latest of several TV shows and feature films that have been remade. Fox is planning on recreating a popular TV series to entertain both existing fans while expanding their audience.
