Katie Holmes is demanding an apology from ABC following the 20/20 segment on Leah Remini controversial interview on Scientology.
Katie Holmes’ rep bashed ABC and accused the network of using the star’s name to boost the show’s ratings.
Last Friday on “Good Morning America”, ABC correspondent Dan Harris promoted a tell-all from Leah Remini and a comment from Katie Holmes. However, when the episode finally aired Holmes appearance was a brief 17-word statement.
In the interview, Remini, who’s new book, “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,” told Harris what it was like being a Scientology. “Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself . . . You are a person who is against the aims and goals of Scientology, you are evil.”
But, Katie Holmes was not too happy with the special.
From Page Six:
But after ABC said viewers would “hear from” Holmes, her rep told Page Six, “The reporter seemed very overzealous — don’t use [my client] to [get] numbers on your show. Katie is 100 percent not appearing unless they magically superimposed her. They owe her an apology.”
An e-mail blast later Friday from the network said: “Katie Holmes declined to be interviewed by ABC News for their reports on Leah Remini’s new memoir . . . but her representatives provided this statement on her behalf.”
