While admitting she loves her career, Jennifer Lawrence has bashed another Hollywood issue, Hollywood’s obsession with weight.
Only a few months after writing an open letter on sexism in the entertainment industry, the 25-year-old Oscar winner told Grazia that actors should be ‘judged on talent’ not looks.
I don’t think an actress needs to be skinny to be attractive and it sends the wrong message to young women
‘I hate all the focus on weight and size that you have in our business,’ she has explained in a new interview. ‘I don’t think an actress needs to be skinny to be attractive and it sends the wrong message to young women. It’s important that, as actresses, we need to establish ourselves first and foremost for our talent and not for our physical appearance.’
Jennifer Lawrence went on to discuss fair pay in Hollywood, she explained that she felt she had to act ‘on principle.’Â ‘I’m aware that movie stars earn too much money in relation to the rest of the world. But it’s the principle that is important. I can’t stand a lack of fairness. This has nothing to do with ingratitude – I love my job and I know how lucky I am to be able to live off my art,’ she pointed out.
Jennifer Lawrence became the highest paid actress in the world this year thanks to her lead role in the hit franchise series and won several awards for working with her favorite director David O. Russell including the latest movie Joy.
