Jean Hanff Korelitz’s novel is brought to life in this thrilling cat-and-mouse story, which follows Jake’s dangerous journey as he attempts to defend himself and his newfound success. Ali stars as the protagonist of this story, depicting a struggling author who steals an idea from one of his students and builds it into a bestseller. With the help of Ali’s executive producing efforts, we get a glimpse at how far Jake will go when confronted with someone who knows about his secret past.
Initially, he had been scheduled to take part in a reboot of “The Blade” at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville; however, the commencement of the shooting was postponed when the director departed.
Onyx Collective, a production company owned by Disney General Entertainment Content, produces “The Plot.” Onyx specializes in amplifying creators of color and stories dedicated to underrepresented communities.
Abby Ajay, the head producer of the new series, is no stranger to success. She has already worked on Netflix’s “Inventing Anna” and ABC’s hit show “How To Get Away With Murder,” so you know this project will be something special.
“I was captivated with Hanff Korelitz’s book ‘The Plot,’ and Abby’s distinct point of view reinvents the story in a way that spoke to me and our mission at Onyx Collective,” said Tara Duncan, who serves as president of both Onyx and Freeform, to The Hollywood Reporter. “There are so many interesting angles and nuances that are having the creative genius that is Mahershala Ali at the center of this mystery is just a dream.”
