Here’s the Skit Eddie Murphy Hated and Wouldn’t Do for SNL 40
Norm McDonald went on Twitter last night to share some behind-the-scenes drama during the “Saturday Night Live’s” 40th anniversary.
According to reports, Eddie Murphy, who made a brief apperance during the NBC special, was asked to impersonate Bill Cosby in “Celebrity Jeopardy,” a skit Macdonald wrote and originally created for the show but, Eddie Murphy said no the night before the premiere.
From Variety:
According to Macdonald, he didn’t want to further shame Cosby–public enemy No. 1 on the Internet–who already faces a litany of sexual assault allegations for drugging and raping dozens of women.
“He knew the laughs would bring the house down,” Macdonald said of his decision. “(But) Eddie decides the laughs are not worth it. He will not kick a man when he is down.”
