Here’s What It’s Like to Audition for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (VIDEO)

Date:

Every year, hundreds of aspiring models audition for a spot in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. However, not everyone that applies makes the cut, even if they are invited to audition in New York City.

Last year, over six million people watched the fashion show, but very little is known about the casting process. This year, Victoria’s Secret has been releasing photos and video footage on their official Instagram page offering a look behind the scenes at their casting process.

Two videos of newcomers Amilna Estevao and Rossmarijn de Kok, in particular, reveal what it’s like to try out for the fashion show.

Every model is required to wear a black bra, underwear with mesh panels and matching heels. Then, the models walk the runway. They are encouraged to showcase their personalities, smile, and strike poses along the runway.

As seen in Estevao’s audition, a panel of four judges offers commentary as the model walks. The judges comment on every aspect of a model’s runway presence including body, facial expressions, and posing.

“And how long have you wanted to be in the show?” a female judge asked Estevao in the video.

“It would be a dream coming true,” the model said. “I don’t know. I would cry.”

“Well, guess what. Your dream is coming true,” a male judge responds. The panel and the other models burst into applause.

After the rigorous audition process, 60 models were selected to walk in the fashion show this year. The lineup included 14 Angels, 30 returning models, and 16 new models.

This year’s fashion show takes place in Shanghai, China, and will air on November 28.
