HBO Upgrades Extras to Speaking Roles on ‘Vice Principals’

HBO’s new show ‘Vice Principals’ upgraded background extras to speaking roles.

Three background extras were upgraded to speaking roles on HBO’s new TV series ‘Vice Principals’. Tona B. Dahlquist took to Facebook yesterday to report the good news.

Who says it doesn’t pay to be an Extra?
Did we mention 2 people were upgraded to speaking roles yesterday and 1 person was upgraded today??

Vice Principals, comes from the creators of Eastbound & Down, Danny McBride and Jody Hill, and centers around the story a high school and the people who run it. The show has been in development for over a year and HBO decided to pick it up late last year.

Background extras that land a speaking role on set is quite rare however, it is not uncommon. On both Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots and Will Smith’s ‘Concussion‘, background extras were upgraded to speaking roles.
