About HBO Max The Hype:

HBO Max has announced that it will continue the ‘The Hype’ Streetwear Competition Series for a second season.

The reality series has been renewed for a second season by HBO Max. The program, which aired in , is produced by Scout Productions and Netflix’s Queer Eye.

The inaugural season of Cash Money Sh*It aired in February of 2018, with A$AP Ferg, Cardi B, Dapper Dan, and Wiz Khalifa among the special guests. The first season’s winning designs were also highlighted on StockX – with all goods selling out within 24 hours of the episode’s airing.

The series will follow a group of streetwear experts as they compete in various competitions that cover the intricacies of designing, the fashion industry, and the savvy to identify the newest trends.

After the show was announced in September, it was revealed that Good Music’s own Vinylz would executive produce and be one of the co-signers – also known as judges – alongside Beth Birkett, creative director and owner of Bephies Supply, and Marni Senofonte, a costume designer who has worked with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Kanye West.

The series was created by David Collins, Rob Eric, and Michael Williams for Scout with Rachelle Mendez, a co-executive producer of Leah Remini: and the Aftermath who also worked on Queer Eye.

Rikki Hughes is the showrunner for Dave Chappelle: Equanimity & The Bird Revelation, Netflix’s first Salute to Equity special. She became the first Black woman to win an for Outstanding Variety Special for these two comedy specials.

Roc Nation co-founders Jay Brown and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith will executive produce alongside LivePlanet CEO Bob Irwin and producer Mark Lane. Conor McGregor is also set to star in the film, which has the working title of I Belong to Me.

The companies behind the project are LivePlanet, Scout Productions, and Academy Award-nominated studio Passion Pictures.

HBO Max has given a series order to The Hype, a streetwear competition series from executive producer Conor McGregor.

The eight-episode series will follow a group of young designers as they compete in various challenges that cover the of streetwear, from design and manufacturing to trend forecasting and branding.

The series will be co-produced by LivePlanet, Scout Productions, and Passion Pictures, with Irwin Entertainment serving as a consulting producer. McGregor will executive produce alongside LivePlanet CEO David Daley and CEO Bob Irwin, Scout founders Michael Williams and David Collins, and Passion Pictures’ John Battsek and Andrew Ruhemann.
