Gillian Anderson is ready to play “Jane Bond” with Daniel Craig leaving James Bond behind.
Move over Idris Elba, Damian Lewis, Tom Hiddleston, and the 100 other actors whose names have been circulating around the internet as the possible replacement for Daniel Craig when he leaves the James Bond franchise.
The Internet is now campaigning to bring X-Files star, Gillian Anderson, to replace Daniel Craig in the next James Bond movie and play the British secret agent with a license to kill and a martini cocktail for every occasion. A #nextbond campaign to make Anderson the future 007 went viral on Twitter over the weekend, and Anderson herself finally responded to it by tweeting out a fan-made poster that imagines the possibility of Jane Bond.
It’s Bond. Jane Bond.
Thanks for all the votes! (And sorry, don’t know who made poster but I love it!) #NextBond pic.twitter.com/f8GC4ZuFgL— Gillian Anderson (@GillianA) May 21, 2016
Sounds like a pretty crazy idea? Well, some people thought the idea of a black James Bond was insane, but over time, everyone seems to have around on the idea of Idris Elba as James Bond. So, why not a woman? Netflix has definitely proven that a woman can kick ass in an action franchise with Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.
The next Bond movie, the 25th in the series, doesn’t have a title or a release date yet, but with the last four Bond movies bringing in more than $3 billion worldwide, it’s definitely coming soon at some point with, or without, Daniel Craig.
