Former Tyler Perry Studios Executives Purchase Tyler Perry’s Old Atlanta Studio Campus

Date:

Ozzie Areu, the former president of Tyler Perry Studios, and his brother Will Areu, have teamed up to buy Tyler Perry’s old studios.

Tyler Perry phased out operations of his old studio campus, which was the Greenbriar property previously owned by Delta Airlines when he opened his new studio at Fort McPherson.

Ozzie spent the last ten years with Tyler Perry helping Mr. Perry build content for Tyler Perry Studios. His productions received many awards including several NAACP Image Awards for the 2010 movie For Colored Girls. Throughout the past 10 years, the Areu brothers have helped oversee the production of 900 episodes across nine television series, 15 feature films, and several plays.

“Ozzie has been a trailblazer in the entertainment industry since his start at TPS where he and Will have worked tirelessly to contribute to our success,” said Perry in a statement. “While I am sad to say goodbye to Ozzie, I am excited for this next chapter in his career of entertaining people, as he continues to push the limits in Hollywood.”

“I look forward to following in the steps of Tyler, my mentor, by owning a studio that also creates content and I’m especially inspired to build a 360-degree world that supports minority storytellers, creators and innovators,” said Ozzie Areu. Added Will Areu, “Both Ozzie and I feel so blessed and grateful for Mr. Perry and all of the amazing people we have worked with along the way, and owe so much to our families for supporting us on this amazing new journey ahead of us. I am also extremely honored to serve as President of Production at TPS.”
