Hollywood is filled with reboots and remakes. And now another feature film is getting the reboot treatment.
The Tracking Board is reporting that 20th Century Fox is remaking the 1985 film along with Hasbro. This is word that the reboot will have an international storyline. There is also word that the reboot is hoping to take the story “out of the parlor and make it a game of ‘worldwide mystery’ with action-adventure elements, potentially setting up a possible franchise that could play well internationally.” The project had been in development in Universal, with at least one director attached to the project.
Clue was first released in 1985 and centered around six guests who are invited to a strange house and must cooperate with the staff to solve a murder mystery. The movie featured Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, and Madeline Kahn and directed by Jonathan Lynn. Clue grossed $14,643,997 domestically, just short of its $15,000,000 budget.
