Man who inspired, Barry Gesser, Wolf of Wall Street was found dead.
According to reports, Barry Gesser, one of the men who inspired The Wolf of Wall Street, was found dead in his home on Wednesday. He was only 52 years old.
Law enforcement officials have told press that the former hedge fund manager was found dead in West Hollywood home by his housekeeper late on Wednesday afternoon.
According to TMZ it is not clear how he died but, there were no signs of trauma or suicide.
Gesser was a chief adviser and close friend to the original Wolf of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort, who was played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the Academy Award nominated movie.
Gesser also reportedly consulted with Martin Scorsese and Jonah Hill as they are pictured together while the movie was shooting in an Instagram post that read:
“Barry, Jordan and Jonah were in deep discussion about back in the day when they were younger so Jonah could get a sense of the character – since Jonah is playing Jordan’s partner. Martin Scorsese is directing the movie – which they have yet to start filming, but it’s sure to become a blockbuster.”
Gesser pleaded guilty to fraud in 1999 and was sentenced to three years of probation for stock fraud. He was most recently in the headlines for cheating on his wife and divorcing just 15 days after their wedding.
