‘Hail, Caesar!: Channing Tatum Had to Learn How to Sing and Tap Dance

Date:

Channing Tatum had to learn how to tap and sing for his new  Hail, Caesar!

At the Hail, Caesar! press conference in Los Angeles on Monday, Channing Tatum revealed to ET that his wife helped him prepare for his role in the new Coen Brothers movie by learning how to tap dance.

Channing Tatum plays Burt Gurney, a dumb but very talented man, in the ’50s-era spoof about ‘s Golden Age.

“She was actually really, really gracious about that. She’s amazing at tap,” the 35-year-old told ET. “She’s been doing that since she was about eight, and there’s not a lot of for tap. No one actually gets to do tap, unless you go on .”

Channing Tatum’s for dance may be rubbing off on his 2-year-old daughter, Everly.

“She just likes to make noise all day. We can’t get them off her,” Channing said. “She falls all the time in them because they’re like ice skates.”

The one thing that his daughter doesn’t like is his inability to sing. Even though he has to sing a few notes in Hail, Caesar!, he’s not sure the experience helped him improve his skills.

In the movie, Channing Tatum had to perform a number that doesn’t just require him to break out his tap shoes, but it also forced the actor to sing as well.

“I don’t know if I really had to learn singing,” he revealed. “I think they have a lot of pro tools and autotune.”

Still, Channing Tatum won’t be singing around any time soon, revealing that his daughter is not his biggest fan. “She’s just like, ‘Dad. Stop. Just don’t do that,'” he admitted.

Hail, Caesar! hits theaters Feb. 5.
