Can you smell The Rock’s presidential campaign?
During a Jumanji promo stop on The Ellen Show with Kevin Hart, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson revealed that he is “seriously considering” running for president of the United States.
When asked by the show’s host if he would run for the White House position, the former wrestler-turned-actor who has never held public office, answered: “I am seriously considering it, yes,”.
The actor certainly has one vote from his Jumanji co-star Kevin Hart, who described Dwayne as “very serious when it comes to spreading love, laughter and the up-selling of life.”
Hart then gave him his full support, adding: “If he were to put himself in that position, he would get my support, wholeheartedly”.
However, Dwayne rejected Hart’s offer to work for him in the White House.
When the comedian asked: “Do you want me on your team, do you want me to do something? Cause there’s a lot I can do”
Dwayne replied: “There’s a lot you shouldn’t do,” before the audience cracked up laughing.
Dwayne confirmed the news in an interview with Variety magazine, announcing that 2024 is the most likely year for his election bid. The actor said he would 100% consider running for office after completing his busy schedule of movies.
“I couldn’t do both,” he admits. “Realistically, as we go into 2018, when you look at my slate as we’re developing and shooting into 2019 and 2020, the slate goes deep into 2021, so it feels like the realistic consideration would be 2024”
