International fans may not have to wait that long to see the Breaking Bad’s latest spinoff Better Call Saul.
Episodes are scheduled to be released and available to Netflix subscribers in Europe and Latin America shortly after premiering in the United States on AMC, starting 2014. It was announced earlier today and THR was the first to report.
The first season of Better Call Saul will be available to Netflix members in the United States and Canada shortly after its season finale. The deal will make Netflix the exclusive subscription service for Better Call Saul.
European and Latin American fans of Breaking Bad‘s unscrupulous lawyer, Saul Goodman, won’t have to wait long to see his Better Call Saul spinoff.
“Breaking Bad is widely recognized as one of the great TV experiences in this new golden age of television,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer, said in a statement. “It has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world. This spinoff promises to continue its tradition of powerful storytelling. We are proud to be in business with Sony Pictures Television to bring Saul Goodman to our subscribers around the world.”
The President of Sony Pictures Television also commented that: “Coming off of the overwhelming success ofBreaking Bad, we’re excited to continue our collaboration with Vince [Gilligan], as well as Peter Gould, and that fans around the world will be able to embrace Saul.”
Better Call Saul will star Bob Odenkirk, as he continues with his Breaking Bad character, lawyer Saul Goodman. The series is to focus on the years before Walter White became an attorney. The prequel was originally created by Vince Gilligan and Gould. Gould is scheduled to run the TV series as he created the character in season 2 of Breaking Bad.

There has not been an official announcement about the direction of the new TV series Saul. But, according to many early reports, the series will be set in an office with a lighter tone and feel than Breaking Bad. The duo made the pitch to AMC this summer, but argued with Sony over the amount of money necessary to begin filming.

An expected premiere for the Breaking Bad spinoff is expected in August of 2014, but AMC has yet to make a formal announcement.
