Atlanta-filmed Boo! 2 is expected to dominate the box office this weekend.
Four major feature films are hitting theaters this weekend, but out of those films only one is expected to win the box office war and according to analysts, Tyler Perry’s Made movie is on track to dominate the weekend.
Lionsgate is projected to make $20 to 22 million this weekend. That said, it would be a step down from the $28 million opening the movie made last year, which went on to gross $73 million. This would mark Tyler Perry’s ninth Made movie, which he wrote and directed.
Meanwhile, Geostorm is projected to compete with Happy Death Day for the number 2 spot among teens. The Snowman is projected to make $10 million opening against a $35 million budget. Universal is projected to make $8 to 9 million, with the movie already making $9.8 million overseas. Critics have not really been that thrilled about the thriller, giving it a 26 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s important to point out that Tyler Perry is not the typical filmmaker. The former homeless aspiring screenplay writer writes, directs, and produces all of his content. That includes several TV shows for the OWN Network and the first scripted series for the TLC network.
