Barack Obama gives Drake the stamp of approval to play him in a movie.
Drake has not acted very much in recent years. After leaving the Degrassi: The Next Generation series nearly a decade ago and becoming one of the most successful musicians in recent history. Now, Variety reports say Drake has received the blessing from Barack Obama to play him whenever biopic comes out.
Barack Obama gave this casting suggestion in an interview this week with Complex’s Speedy Morman. The interview also discussed other issues, including the 2020 election, generational differences in the Democratic Party, and several other topics stemming from Obama’s new memoir A Promised Land.
Obama said, “I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants. I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So if the time comes and he’s ready…” He continued on to say something completely unexpected, giving Drake the okay to pay him in a movie: “Drake has, more importantly, I think, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”
That said, Obama has been played on TV and in movies several times in the past. Parker Sawyers played Obama in Southside with You, Devon Terrell played Obama in Barry and Kingsley Ben-Adir in HBO’s The Comey Rule.
That said, it has been a long time since Drake talked about his own aspirations to return to acting. That said, getting the stamp of approval from Barack Obama could change everything.
