According to Deadline, Ethan Hawke and Myha’la Herrold will join Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali in the upcoming Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind, with Mr. Robot creator Sam Email directing.
What is Netflix’s Leave the World Behind about?
The upcoming feature film is based on Rumen Alam’s novel. The novel focuses on two families, who are strangers but forced to live together on a long weekend trip gone wrong. Hawke will play Roberts’ husband and Herrold will play Ali’s daughter.
Deadline describes Alam’s writing “keenly attuned to the complexities of parenthood, race and class. It explores how our closest bonds are reshaped — and unexpected new ones are forged — in moments of crisis.”

This production has been designated as a Mandatory Vaccination production pursuant to the terms of the July 2021 industry return to work agreement.
