The New Mexico Film Office is thrilled to announce the commencement of filming for “Dark Winds”
Amber Dodson, the Director of New Mexico’s Film Office, announced “Dark Winds” season two will be filmed in and around Santa Fe and Tesuque Pueblo beginning this November. The production process looks to continue through 2023 – making it an exciting opportunity for locals!

Directed by Betsy Burke and produced by George R.R. Martin, amongst other leading names in the industry, “Dark Winds” showcases Zahn McClarnon in a riveting adaptation of Tony Hillerman’s iconic book series: “Leaphorn & Chee”. Set in the 1970s, this show follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn and Deputy Chee as they search for clues to solve crimes and mysteries.
This is great news for locals of New Mexico–the Film Office has announced that they will employ 200 crew members, 90 background/extras engaged, and 60 principal actors from the area cast!
