“In The Tomb” is a dramatic look inside the tomb of Jesus following his crucifixion and the lives of those closes to him in the hours after he is crucified.

Main Cast/Speaking Roles
MOTHER MARY (MOTHER) – Female, Ambiguous, Late 40s. No shorter than 5’4. Thick build woman. Nurturing and loving, Strong Willed. Hugely challenging role, strong singing and acting needed. [Must be Soprano]
MARY MAGDALENE (MARY) – Female, Open (African American). Late 20s – early 30s. 5’6 – 5’8; medium build. Earnest, pretty, warm-hearted. Strong singing and acting needed.[Alto w/range or Contralto]
PETER – Male, Dark Skin; 35yrs – 40yrs age. 5’10 or taller. Full Beard preferred. Medium Build. (Mostly acting role but with one big musical number with Mother). [1st Tenor]
JOHN – Male, Light Skin, Clean Shaven; Late 20s. 5’9 or taller. Gorgeous and endlessly confident.[2nd Tenor w/range or 1st Tenor]
JAMES – Male, Brown Skin, 5’7 – 5’9 in height. 30s-40s yrs old. Very strong willed temper and determined. [2nd Tenor]
CAIAPHAS, THE HIGH PRIEST – Male, Dark Skin; 5’9 or taller. Early 50s in age, full beard preferred, with medium build. Surly and bureaucratic, full of self-importance. [Tenor]
PHARISEE, ASSISTANT TO CAIAPHAS – Male, Biracial, Brown Skin(OPEN) 5’9 or taller. Surly and bureaucratic; eager to please. [1st Tenor]
JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA (JOSEPH) – Male, Ambiguous, 40s to 50s. 5’9 or taller; thin build. Intellectual and pleasant; a good storyteller who relates directly with the audience. [Tenor]
PAPA – Male, Dark Skin; Late 40s. 5’8 or taller medium build. Nurturing and loving. Small role with no solo singing.
CENTURION – Male, Late 50s, 6’0 or taller, Open or Ambiguous, Strong Build. Warm hearted; a leader of men. Mostly acting role with one big musical number. [Tenor]
ROMAN SOLDIER – Male, 30, 5’9 or taller; Light Skin; Strong Build with Muscles. Mean spirited, black heart and loud. Small role with no solo singing.
CHILD (CHILD) – Female, 8 – 12yrs old, Open (African American); pretty, warm-hearted, kind, a survivor. Must be able to use crutches. Good singing voice particularly required. [Soprano]
