Richard Linklater’s Apollo Movie Casting Call for a Speaking Role

Date:

Richard Linklater‘s new space movie is now casting kid actors for speaking roles in Austin, Texas.

Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming on

Producers are seeking the following types:

  • OUTGOING KID, male, 9-11. A charismatic elementary schooler who’s curious, athletic, outgoing and full of energy. This kid has never met a stranger, makes people laugh, and could talk anyone’s ear off about the things he loves and is learning.

About Richard Linklater’s Apollo movie:

Richard Linklater’s next movie is a coming-of-age story about the moon landing in 1969. The movie is written and directed by Linklater, who broke the news during an interview with The Houston Chronicle. Linklater is known for many hit movies including ‘Dazed and Confused,’ ‘Everybody Want’s Some,’ and ‘Boyhood’.

In a recent interview, the director revealed his next project will be another coming-of-age story set in Houston, Texas in 1969. The movie will center around the historic moon landing. Linklater was inspired to make the movie while filming ‘Boyhood’. He says that he “egan thinking about his own childhood and that pivotal summer when he was watching man walk on the moon just weeks before entering third grade.”

The movie will unfold from the kid’s point-of-view and we can expect a soundtrack with “Regional hits”. The director says:

You had so much going on in Houston at once: NASA, the Medical Center, the Astrodome… There was a communal atmosphere. You had all these kids with parents working at NASA for a common goal.”

Linklater is also actively looking for old home videos and footage from that time period to add authenticity to the project. Here is what they are looking for:

“Director Richard Linklater needs your Houston area photos, videos from the 1960s for a new movie. Have a home movie from Astroworld or the Astrodome, or a recording of your little brother with Kitirik? Did someone you know use a Kinescope to record the moon landing? If so, we want to see it and anything else that documents that era.”

Anyone with great footage or photos for the production team is encouraged to email [email protected] with details.
