ROOTS Reboot Casting Call for Real Musicians in New Orleans

Roots mini-series casting call for real musicians in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Casting directors for the new ROOTS reboot are looking for African American musicians in the New Orleans area. Producers are looking for musicians that are 18 years and older to mimick/pay music. However, all actors and musicians must know how to play your instrument and own it. Casting directors are looking for musciians that know how to play the fiddle, banjo, harmonica or upright bass. Filming will take place on October 5th and 6th.

A&E Networks is working on the Roots remake. The new mini-series will be a remake of the classic 1997 miniseries that traced a black family’s history from salvery on to the end of the Civil War. The eight-episode series, which has been in the works since 2013, will air simultaneously on The History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime in 2016.

‘Roots’ Mini-Series Open Casting Call

NOW CASTING MUSICIANS**FEATURED SPOTS** SUBMIT ASAP**
African American musicians to work on ROOTS, Must be 18 years old. You will be mimicking/playing to the music (NOT REALLY PLAYING) But you must know how to play your instrument, and own it!

IMMEDIATE NEEDS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

African American Males that play THE FIDDLE, BANJO, HARMONICA, OR UPRIGHT BASS

FILMING DATE: October 5th and 6th (must be available both days)
FILMING LOCATION: Napoleonville, LA (Near Donaldsonville in Assumption Parish)
FITTING: PRIOR TO SHOOT IN NOLA

PAY RATE: 250/day

INCLUDE: Name, Age, Contact #, Height/Weight, city/state of residency, list the instruments you own and play and also include video or sound clip if able.
Please include photos like our example below:

No selfies will be submitted.
No mirror pics will be submitted.
Do not smile in photos.
Do not wear sunglasses/glasses or hat.
Stand in front of a solid wall.
Have someone take pictures of you with smart phone.
Wear hair down and NATURAL*
Do not wear costumes in photos or business clothes.
Wear bland clothes, a neutral colored top and jeans is best.

**Also, please include a photo of your instrument!
