In early 2012, A&E announced that they are currently in production for a new TV series titled Bates Motel and will have 10 episodes for their first season. The Bates Motel series will be focused on giving viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood into his teen years. Viewers will have the chance to access the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, making him the most well known serial killing motel owner in history.
Bates Motel will feature Max Thieriot, Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Nicol Peltz and Olivia Cooke. Bates Motel is also produced in association with A&E Television Networks and Universal Television.
