Producers are holding an open casting call for the lead role of Tiger Lily for NBC’s Live Peter Pan.
According to Playbill.com, producers of NBC’s live version of the classic Peter Pan are holding an open casting call looking for Native American women to star as Tiger Lily in the upcoming holiday production.
According to the casting notice, Telsey + Co. is currently seeking the following talent: “18-30, Native American. Strong dancer, singer, and actor.”
This role has had a bit of controversy. Earlier this year an online petition caused the creative team at NBC to recast the role.
Earlier this year an online petition circulated objecting to the casting of a Caucasian woman in the role of a Native American after Warner Brothers announced that Academy Award nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Social Network”) was cast to play Tiger Lily in the film “Pan,” which also stars Hugh Jackman.
Christopher Walken will play Captain Hook in the live television broadcast of Peter Pan.
