Marvel Comics Internship

Marvel Comics have defined generations for years. From the amazing full feature films, to the action packed comic books, Marvel Comics is defining and changing the entertainment industry in multiple ways.

Marvel Comics was originally named Marvel Publishing, Inc and was recently purchased in 2009 by Walt Disney COmpany for nearly 4.24 billion dollars. But, it was not all glitz and glamour. Marvel started in 1939 as Timely Publications, and by the 1950s they changed their name to Atlas Comics. But, what led the way for Marvel Comics domination was started in 1961 when the company unleashed the legendary Fantastic Four and other super hero titles such as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and others.

There are a ton of well known characters that were created by Marvel. Charcters including Spider-man, the X-men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Daredevel. Criminals and antagonists such as the Green Goblin, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Galactus, and the Red Skull. Most of Marvel’s fictional characters operate in a single reality known as the Marvel Universe, with locations that mirror real-life cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Marvel Comics and its major, longtime competitor DC Comics together shared over 80% of the American comic-book market in 2008.

One of the biggest opportunities available to individuals interested in the entertainment industry is Marvel’s Internship Program.

Marvel boasts on their website that:

“Marvel’s internship program is a remarkable way to hone your powers. To gain real-world experience with a renowned company. And to join the ranks of top entertainment professionals around the world. Nick Lowe, Marvel Senior Editor. Joe Madureira, acclaimed artist of Uncanny X-Men. Dan Slott, award-winning writer of Amazing Spider-Man. These are just some of our former interns who’ve morphed into industry-leading professionals.

Each semester, nearly 30 unpaid interns kick open the doors to our New York and California offices. Here, you’ll get a one-of-a-kind education, tackle real-world assignments and work with some of the industry’s biggest names.”

So it is pretty clear that this program is focused on improving an individuals skills in order to not only become a better person, but to gain the experience in the comic book / entertainment industry.

They are seeking interns to fulfill a variety of roles including:

  • Editorial
