Jason Reitman is casting a lead role for his new film Men, Women & Children — if you’re a teenager who’s over 6-foot-2.
The movie, which shoots in Austin, Texas next year, also stars Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, and Rosemarie DeWitt, and the Up in the Air and Young Adult filmmaker has been looking for a young actor to play a football star who gives up on real life and becomes obsessed with online gaming.
But since the director hasn’t been able to find the right person in any of the usual Hollywood casting circles, he has decided to have an open casting call.
Reitman posted a segment of the script on his Twitter account, asking followers to give it to anyone they think fits the description.
“Need help casting my film! Know a teen football player who’s a quiet thoughtful giant? See the attached script!” Reitman wrote.
He said would-be actors should record the scene on any kind of camera and email the footage to him. The segment of the script is below, along with the casting email.
He didn’t specify a deadline, but it’s probably better to hustle if you are serious about being considered.
The upcoming feature film is based on the Chad Kultgen novel, about a group of families whose lives are pulled apart over sex, loyalty, ambition, and loneliness.
Tim, the sweet, but isolated football star who ponders our species’ tiny place in the universe, is one such character, reaching out to make a connection.
