DC’s Stargirl is an American TV series created by Geoff Johns and premiered on the streaming service DC Universe. The TV series is based on the DC Comics superhero Courtney Whitmore created by Johns and Lee Moder. The series centers around a high school student Courtney Whitmore, portrayed by actress Brec Bassinger, who discovers the cosmic staff and becomes the new inspiration for the next generation of superheroes who become the Justice Society of America.
The series was ordered in July 2018 and Bassinger was cast that September. Filming began in March 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. The show premiered on May 18, 2020. The series also aired on the CW. In July 2020, the series was renewed for a second season by The CW, resulting in Stargirl moving to the CW as an original series.
