A Christmas Story is now casting for the lead role of Ralphie.
A Christmas Story reboot is holding a talent search for the upcoming live Fox TV adaptation of the musical version of A Christmas Story.
Producers are looking for a child Caucasian actor between the ages of 9 to 12 years old. The deadline to submit is on Monday, August 14th.
Casting directors are seeking the following types:
- RALPHIE – Male, 9-12, Caucasian. Possibly a bit pudgy, a regular kid – cute but not handsome, winsome but not precious. He wouldn’t be lost in a crowd, but he wouldn’t stand out either. Bright, but not precocious, a kid you wouldn’t mind living next door to. Actor must be an excellent singer and able to carry a show. VOICE: Boy’s unchanged voice. High belter, low F# to high D. Tap skills a plus but not required.
About A Christmas Story:
The 1983 A Christmas Story movie was based on Jean Shepherd’s 1966 book, In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash, and was set in the late ’30s/early ’40s. The three-hour live holiday musical event will “take place in the period” but with contemporary book-ending, he said. Fox announced separately today that Emmy nominee Maya Rudolph will play the mom of 9-year-old Ralphie Parker.
