Casting directors are now casting the lead role in the new movie ‘Storm Boy’. Producers are looking for kid actors between the ages of 10 to 12 who is “wild at heart and caught at that magical age between dawn and dusk.”
Casting directors are seeking actors who were comfortable with birds, comfortable in and on water, and able to work on scenes filming starting May through September in South Australia.
The director of the new film will be Shawn Seet (Two Fists, One Heart, Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door, The Code) with a script by Justin Monjo (Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door, The Secret Daughter, Brock).
The original Storm Boy centered around the bond between a young boy, played by Mike (Greg Rowe), and a pelican called Mr Percival, with Peter Cummins as his reclusive father, Hideaway Tom, and David Gulpilil as Fingerbone Bill.
Based on a 1964 novella by Australian writer Colin Thiele, it was a hit when it was released and won best film at the Australian Film Institute Awards over Break of Day, Don’s Party and The Picture Show Man in 1977.
About Storm Boy:
Storm Boy lives a lonely life with a reclusive father on a desolate coastline. When he adopts some orphaned Pelicans, he forms a close bond with one, Mr. Percival, and his life takes a new and unexpected turn.
