Oscar Garcia-Lopez
About:
Oscar Garcia-Lopez was born in Havana, Cuba and from a young age discovered that
fashion would be his life. He brings in his influences of dance, ballet, music, and the theatre to
give an artistic edge to his designs that leaves everyone wanting more. At the age of 12 he
created his first dress with his mother’s curtains due to the scarce resources of Cuba. But “[he]
was determined and didn’t mind the effort.” This boy had found his calling and was following it.
In October, 2004 he moved to the U.S and once in Coral Gables Fl, he grew his clientele one
dress at a time.
He also took on the challenge of participating in Project Runway "Under the Gunn", hosted by
Tim Gunn, with co-judges designer Rachel Roy, Georgina Chapman, supermodel Heidi Klum
and Marie Claire fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi. His creations were described as flattering,
sexy, and fierce, characteristics he includes in all of his designs. The judges pointed out his
outstanding construction and red-carpet “wow” that celebrities love.
His work has been published in Hola Magazine, Marie Claire, Ocean Drive Magazine, The
Miami Herald, Opulence Magazine, and Selecta Magazine. He’s had the honor of dressing Rachel Roy for the Met Gala, Kelly Lynch for the
ISA, Barbara Bermudo TV anchor for Univision, Latin Grammy award winner Lena Burke,
among many others.
