The actress will lead the Gareth Edwards-directed fourth installment of ‘Jurassic World.’
Scarlett Johansson has revealed her long-standing aspiration to be part of the Jurassic World franchise, expressing her excitement and fandom ahead of starring in the upcoming film. Johansson, who is set to lead the fourth installment of Universal‘s Jurassic World series, shared her enthusiasm in an interview with Comicbook.com, stating, “I’m an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”
The Marvel Cinematic Universe alum admitted that her passion for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World has driven her to pursue a role in the franchise for over a decade. “I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and a huge nerd for it. I’m pinching myself,” Johansson added.
In March, reports surfaced that Johansson was in talks to star in the yet-to-be-titled Jurassic World 4, the seventh film in the Jurassic Park series that began in 1993. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for his work on The Creator and Rogue One, the film will also feature Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and newcomer Audrina Miranda.
The script, written by David Koepp, who penned the first two Jurassic Park films, has Johansson particularly excited. “David Koepp returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome,” she said.
Reflecting on her decade-long quest to join the franchise, Johansson humorously recounted her persistent efforts: “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it.”
She concluded, “The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time is actually unbelievable. I can’t believe it.”
