A Look Behind the Scenes

Not so long ago, I got the brilliant opportunity to do something fascinating. To mark the launch of That 90s Show Part 2, I was thrilled to receive an invitation from JoBlo to visit sunny Los Angeles to meet and interview the most adored stars of the show, Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp.

Red and Kitty’s Next Chapter

If you’re a fan of That 70s Show, you know Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp as the lovable Red and Kitty Foreman. Red and Kitty, who were adored parents in the original show, are now charming grandparents on That 90s Show. The duo seem ecstatic about reactivating their roles, and their excitement showed during our fun chat. Fans of the 80s might also remember Kurtwood Smith in his iconic villain role as Clarence Boddicker from RoboCop.

Live Energy on Set

Here’s where things got more interesting. I had the privilege of being present for a live studio taping of an episode. That 90s Show uses the good-old practice of filming episodes in front of live audiences. Smith and Rupp shared how the crowd’s energy influenced their performances, something I got to see for myself.

Laura Prepon, well-known for her role as Donna, didn’t just act in the episode but also directed it. It was impressive and educational to see how Prepon and the rest of the casts tweaked their lines based on the audience’s reactions to get different kinds of laughter.

A Walk Around the Set

The excitement didn’t stop there. After the shooting, some journalists and I got a chance to survey the set. I even managed to snap a picture in the show’s famous basement set.

Premiere Dates Revealed

Brace yourselves, folks! That 90s Show Part 2 hits Netflix on June 27th, and Part 3 debuts on October 24th. Will it make your watchlist? Let us hear from you!
