Daniel Jamss

Daniel James, known as “The American Predator,” is a professional mixed martial artist competing in the heavyweight division. Born on December 31, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois, he fights out of his hometown and represents the Midwest Training Center. Standing at 6’6” and weighing around 267 pounds, James boasts an impressive reach of 80 inches. He holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has been active in professional MMA since 2014. James earned his nickname “The American Predator” from his uncle, inspired by his distinctive dreadlocks. Growing up on Chicago’s West Side, he avoided the prevalent violence and drugs through his involvement in sports. Beyond the cage, James is dedicated to his community, running fitness programs for youth at Reach Fieldhouse in Chicago to keep them engaged and out of trouble. He has also worked as a celebrity bodyguard, including for rapper Twista. Throughout his career, James has competed in various organizations, including Bellator, the Professional Fighters League (PFL), and currently, Rizin Fighting Federation. As of May 2025, his professional MMA record stands at 15 wins, 8 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no contest. His victories comprise 11 by knockout, 3 by submission, and 1 by decision. In his most recent bout on May 4, 2025, James faced Marek Samociuk at RIZIN: Otoko Matsuri in Tokyo, Japan, where he lost by unanimous decision. Outside of fighting, James is a father to four children—two sons and two daughters.
