China has recently banned three popular American television shows from streaming in their country.
The Chinese “State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television” has announced that they ordered local video sites to stop the streaming of some U.S. TV shows.
According to the Associated Press, the series include The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife and NCIS.
There has been no reason reported for the shutdown. According to Deadline, online streaming is not censored as much in comparison to television and movies in China. But, websites that license television shows that stream ads, are sometimes ordered to remove their content in which China’s government considers unsuitable.
Other shows that are not censored include House of Cards, Nikita, and Masters of Sex. Shows that many consider more controversial than The Big Bang Theory.
