Can you ever see life without Conan O’Brien on TV? Well have no fear TBS has renewed the Conan show for another 4 years.
Conan O’Brien launched his late-night show on TBS in 2010. After a year, his contract was renewed through April 2014.
Now, TBS is throwing all the chips in for Mr. O’Brien renewing his contract until 2018.
O’Brien has a dedicated fan base with an average audience of 862,000 viewers an episode, according to Deadline.
Year to date, Conan is averaging a modest 862,000 viewers in Live+7. His strength is in younger viewers, topping a number of late-night competitors among adults 18-34 including The Late Show With David Letterman, The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Arsenio Hall Show, Chelsea Lately and Watch What Happens: Live. Conan also has been a digital juggernaut, with O’Brien counting 10.7 million Twitter followers, more than any other late-night star on cable.
The Head of Programming for TBS, Michael Wright recently commented on Conan O’Brien, “Conan has not only brought an incredibly young audience to TBS but has also created a digital presence that draws millions of fans to his unique brand of comedy.” said head of programming Michael Wright.
Conan O’Brien is also expected to tape an episode on the road at the upcoming Comic-Con in Los Angeles.
