Argentinian model sues Google and Yahoo over Porn Site Search Results
Argentinian model and TV personality Belén Rodríguez is going to battle against Google and Yahoo over search results that link her name to a porn sites that have used her older photos without her permission.
Belén Rodríguez was previously awarded a sum of $15,000 after she filed legal action in 2006, but she is currently seeking further damages and wants her name unlinked to the porn sites.
“They have ruined my life and now say that what I’m asking for is censorship? It suits them, but not me. Truthfully for me, having to explain every day that I am not a prostitute is a daily complication.” []
In 2009 and 2010, Belén Rodríguez has appeared in television commercials for a popular Cell Phone company. Belén Rodríguez made her acting debut as the female protagonist in the Italian film Natale in Sudafrica in December 2010.
In 2011, she was a co-presenter of the annual televised Italian singing contest, the Sanremo Music Festival.
None of the creators of the website content, were called to testify in the lawsuit and Google stated in a statement that “search engines are neutral platforms that do not create nor control content on the web.”
The Argentine Supreme Court will be making a decision on the case within the next several weeks.
