‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’, ‘Transcendence’ Have Not Received, New Mexico Tax Incentives

Date:

New Mexico’s film incentive program is under fire recently after two movies filmed last year have not received their tax incentives.

According to Deadline, Transcendence and A Million Ways to Die in the West, both shot in New Mexico last year still have not received their tax credits.

VP production finance at Media Rights Capital complained recently that his company’s film A Million Ways to Die in the West is still dealing with New Mexico auditors even though the production has wrapped several months ago.

Describing New Mexico’s new auditing process as “onerous”, he stated that the company had to scan over 12,000 pages of financial documents to get its incentives. “it’s tough to get answers and explanations”.

Alcon Entertainment‘s Transcendence finished filming in June and they still have not received their tax incentives either. She called the process with unfortunate and “You don’t have this with other states incentives.”

Other panelists also gave high marks to tax incentive incentive programs in Louisiana, Georgia and Massachusetts.
