There were rumors about a Ben Affleck-starring standalone Batman movie for nearly a year, which was later rumored to be as many as three rumors which would also be directed by Ben Affleck and quite possibly written by him.

Then a rumor went around that Ben Affleck was spotted rewriting the Dawn of Justice script while he was in his Batman costume. Ben Affleck later revealed that he was writing his own Batman movie in between takes.

Now, it doesn’t look like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’s director, Zack Snyder, is confident that will ever happen.
“I keep working on him, he’s always said he’s a one movie at a time guy. He’s finishing editing his film, Live By Night, and then he comes to Justice League and then after that, I think he’s going to try and develop the story. Then we’ll see if he likes it.”
It’s difficult to say whether or not DC Comics will fully invest their film industry future in Ben Affleck. In comparison, Marvel invested heavily in Robert Downey Jr. and that has paid off very well for the franchise. Time will tell if Ben Affleck will actually have his own Batman movie. But, it would be pretty interesting to see Matt Damon as Robin.
