Matthew McConaughey’s new movie Sea of Trees flops in the box office.
Matthew McConaughey may be an A-list Academy Award winning actor but, his latest movie may be the worst movie of his entire acting career.
According to reports, Matthew McConaughey’s Sea of Trees didn’t even earn $3,000 in the box office after 6 days. The return on investment for the movie is negative as the film’s reported production budget was over $20 million.
Starring Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts, the drama centers around a suicidal American who becomes friends with a Japanese man as the two lost men search for a way out of a forest near Mt. Fuji.
But, this should not come as a surprise. In fact, when the movie hit the indie film festival it was booed by critics and Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie an 8% ratings, with most critics bashing the drama calling the movie forced and inauthentic.
It’s sad to say it but, since McConaughey’s Oscar winning movie Dallas Buyers Club his movies have not done well in the box office. In fact, Free State of Jones and Interstellar were all expected to be box off hit movies but, each movie fell short of expectations.
