Oppenheimer centers around the story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the development of the atomic bomb. Based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin. Director Christopher Nolan, Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin are the writers behind the movie.
This is the sixth collaboration between Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan. They previously worked on Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dunkirk.
The movie is expected to be released on July 21, 2023, and is produced by Atlas Entertainment, Syncocopy, and Universal Pictures with an estimated budget of $100,000,000 million.
Who is J. Robert Oppenheimer?
J. Robert Oppenheimer is an American theoretical physicist who has had a major influence on Physics research. J. Robert Oppenheimer was born on April 22nd, 1904 in New York City to J. Oppenheimer, a wealthy Jewish textile importer who came from Germany, and Ella Friedman, whose parents were immigrants from Hungary. J. Robert Oppenheimer grew up in an upper-middle-class neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan and attended school at the Ethical Culture School where there was no division between academic subjects and religious studies.
J. Robert Oppenheimer had a difficult childhood because he was shy and socially awkward which made him feel more of an outcast at school. J. Robert Oppenheimer’s parents opposed him becoming a physicist, but he found his passion for physics when he attended Harvard University in 1922 where he studied under the supervision of J. J. Thomson. J. J Thomson’s research on the electron and J. Robert Oppenheimer’s own research on X-Ray diffraction drew him to study physics instead of pursuing chemistry. J. Robert Oppenheimer graduated from Harvard University in 1925 with a bachelor’s degree and went into a Ph.D program at the University of Gottingen in Germany where J. Robert Oppenheimer learned Quantum mechanics under J. Franck and J. were Born for two years between 1926-1928 before he received his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Gottingen.
J. Robert Oppenheimer had a major role in forming The Manhattan Project, which lead to the Atomic Bomb. J. Robert Oppenheimer was later involved in politics after WWII by trying to stop nuclear proliferation.

According to reports, John Pasidera is the lead casting director behind the movie. Papsidera is a Hollywood veteran with a career expanding over 25 years. John Papsidera is most known for his work on Inception, Dunkirk, Memento, and Uncharted. In a 2016 interview discussing his casting decisions on the project Casual, he commented on his desire to help aspiring actors saying, “I’m never going to die a multimillionaire, but what is worthwhile for me—what’s rewarding for me—is to help people have their creations come to life,” Papsidera says.”
