Netflix ‘JIGSAW’ is now casting and hiring actors in New York City.
Netflix casting directors are now casting actors, models, and influencers to work on scenes filming in New York City.
Producers are seeking and hiring the following roles:
Netflix Jigsaw Series – What We Know So Far
Heist movies and TV series have been popular for a long time because it’s fun to root for the “villains.” But “Jigsaw,” an upcoming heist show that will be different from the typical “ragtag group of criminals attempting one last score” narrative.
On September 16, 2021, Netflix picked up the eight-episode series for an undisclosed sum. Eric Garcia is the show’s creator, having previously written the book “Matchstick Men” into a 2003 film of the same name and co-writing the 2001 sci-fi thriller “Repo Men.” Automatik Entertainment’s Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Garcia will executive produce alongside manager Emily Rose of Imperial Artists.
“Jigsaw” is set shortly and follows a group of criminals recruited by an anonymous benefactor to carry out a heist. The catch is that the job requires them to rob a bank that deals in cryptocurrency. The group must use their skills to figure out how to break into the high-tech facility and steal the money before the authorities arrive.
What is the release date for Jigsaw?
Although “Jigsaw” has yet to be scheduled for release, it shouldn’t be long now. Netflix’s new Bushwick-based production facility, Netflix Studios: Brooklyn, is where the series is currently filming. It should premiere around 2022 due to the cast being established and the show being actively produced.
It took “Russian Doll,” a Netflix program set in New York City, roughly a year to make. On-Location Vacations reports that shooting on “Russian Doll” Season 1 began on February 18, 2018, and the first episode aired on February 1, 2019 (via On Location Vacations). Both ” Russian Doll” Season 1 and “Jigsaw” are set and filmed in New York City, so it’s possible that “Jigsaw” will have a similar timeline.
What is the plot of Jigsaw?
The official logline for “Jigsaw” reads:
“Shortly, a group of criminals is recruited by an anonymous benefactor to carry out a heist. The catch is that the job requires them to rob a bank that deals in cryptocurrency.”
This setup suggests that “Jigsaw” will be a heist story with a bit of a twist. Rather than the criminals being Robin Hood-esque characters, they appear to be more like traditional thieves (albeit with high-tech skills). The group may be recruited by the “anonymous benefactor” because they’re the only ones with the skills needed to carry out the heist.
It’s also worth noting that, in the world of “Jigsaw,” cryptocurrency is a significant form of currency. This means that the stakes are higher than simply robbing a bank – the criminals need to steal the money and escape with it before they’re caught.
Is Jigsaw filming in New York City?
Yes, “Jigsaw” is currently being filmed at Netflix Studios: Brooklyn. The new production facility is based in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, and it’s where Netflix plans to produce a number of its original series (via Variety).
In addition to “Jigsaw,” the studio is also home to the upcoming series “Slutty Teenage Bounty Hunters” and “The Innocent Man.” More Netflix series may be filmed at the studio in the future, as the company plans to produce “dozens” of original series and films there.
Who is in the cast of Jigsaw?
After Netflix announced that it had given “Jigsaw” a series order, it revealed the eight main cast members and the characters they’ll be portraying. The
cast members are:
- Leo Pap, played by Giancarlo Esposito, is a lifelong criminal with “an engineer’s mind and a meticulous eye for detail. He once tried to quit his criminal life behind.”
- Ava Mercer, played by Paz Vega, is a defense attorney who plays fast and loose but, in the end, is entirely committed to those she cares about.
- Roger Salas, played by Rufus Sewell, is an ex-thief who has become a security expert. He sounds like a good fit for the show’s antagonist since he is loyal but ambitious.
- Tati Gabrielle is Hannah Kim, a thief crew member specializing in disguises and impersonations.
- Stan Loomis, played by Peter Mark, a smuggler who aspires to live the good life and is a romantic at heart, is played by St Peter Mark Kendall.
- Rosaline Elbay portrays Judy Goodwin, the crew’s sardonic explosives expert.
- Bob Goodwin, played by Jai Courtney, is a safecracker and alpha male type, played by Jai Courtney
- Niousha Noor takes on the role of Nazan Abbasi, an FBI agent who is attempting to bring down the crew (via Variety).
